ATHLETIC FIELD AND PLAYGROUND SAFETY
As safety personnel, our responsibilities and tasks are numerous and sometimes daunting. With our limited time and resources, we sometimes overlook areas that can be of major importance to the students and staff of our district. Education and instruction occur mostly inside of our facilities, but other areas could prove to be conducive to accidents and injuries.
Non-School Use of Building Facilities

The Texas Constitution prohibits school districts from spending district resources to serve nonschool purposes. Arguably, charging no fees at all constitutes an improper “gift of public funds,” if the district is spending its resources to keep its doors open for nonschool use.

Message from Hays CISD - "Inspect your light poles." No one was injured, but a 120-foot light pole at Shelton Stadium fell onto the roof of Bales Gym in March. No one was in the gym when the pole snapped and there were no injuries. Bales Gym is closed indefinitely for repairs.
